A Little R & R

Tait and I had a very nice relaxing weekend. We managed to pawn off Lehna onto Aunt Jackie and Uncle Marcus from Saturday to Sunday so we could get some much needed “us” time. Although we didn’t get to a movie… so the last movie I saw in the movie theater is still Star Wars… we did have a very nice dinner out and a nice round of golf. We have a book of gift certificates for golf courses around Indiana and we were able to use one of them. It was fun… playing a new course is ALWAYS challenging but I think Tait and I managed quite well. Tait played really well I had some trouble, I guess I needed the 7-8 beers!

Lehna managed to get her pictures taken TWICE this weekend. Marcus and Jackie took her on Saturday and we took her on Sunday. She was really cute with us on Sunday she smiled really big her very first picture they took and Tait talked me into getting that one… since we couldn’t get that picture back… thank goodness we got that picture b/c she was a STINKER to get the rest of the pictures. They take like 6 extra so you buy them… well I was really good and didn’t buy ANY of them… so Tait was proud. So we should have her pictures back by September 14th I can’t wait! So look for them!
(Jackie does this elephant look familar he's from the Indy zoo?)

Lehna had a fever and was pulling on her ear on Monday so I took her to the doctor. When we got there they gave her another breathing treatment b/c she was wheezing a bit (the air was VERY thick yesterday). Lehna has an ear infection and when we left the doctor’s office her temperature was still 101.3 well all day she had a fever and finally at 8:00 p.m her fever broke. Lehna was like a totally different baby. She was all smiles and happy. She wanted to play so I put her in her jump a roo and she jumped for about 20 mins. We took her out about 8:40 and I rocked her to sleep she was totally out by 9:20 p.m and she went to bed. She slept all night last night, which was really wonderful considering she was not feeling well an hour earlier. She went to daycare this morning and was all smiles. So I think the rough part is over thank goodness for her new doctor!

Well the plan for this weekend is of course going to be wild and crazy but what else would you expect after a weekend of relaxing. We are going to join Helen, Tim, Tanna and Landyn at the Holiday Inn in Indy they have a huge indoor water park called Caribbean Cove and we are going to go and join them for some pool fun… Which I know Lehna will enjoy… That’s the plan hopefully I’ll remember my camera… well… that’s all I got…..Thanks for reading about us!

Weekly Update.

So I know all your loyal readers have been wondering why in the world I haven’t written well quite frankly it’s been on the 2nd thing on my list of things to do and it just kept sliding down on my list UNTIL today, and I FINALLY had a free moment to complete my weekly update. I am also going to be changing my weekly format a bit different but I will explain that later…

This past weekend Jackie, Lehna, and I headed to Hartford, Wisconsin to visit my mom and step-dad. We left on Thursday night around 6 ish and headed out North. We made pretty good time up until we hit Chicago and then everything went to pot! We were trapped on the Boreman Expresses way for about an hour and a half due to all the traffic it was HORRIBLE! After we got through Chicago we didn’t make too bad of time and it took the normal 4-5 hour trip a long 6 ½ hour journey. Lehna was really good the whole time she basically just slept and since it was her bedtime that was fine by me. So once we got there we woke Lehna up and mom played with her and we headed to bed about 2 ish.

On Friday we got up and went to a very pretty little place called Cedar Creek. We wanted to go to the winery there. It was a very interesting place it was like Conner Prairie meets the Mall it was kind of odd. We had to carry Lehna and her stroller up a couple flights of stairs it definitely wasn’t very “child friendly” but we were able to take her on the tour of the winery and that was good. The tour itself was pretty interesting I was amazing to hear of all the different uses this VERY old building had once held. So it was interesting. Our tour guide basically took us to the cellar and showed us a video and then repeated everything that was in the video but it still was interesting information. After the tour we went and got to taste some wine. Some of the wines were VERY good and then there were other wines that were not so good. We did manage to get a case of wine and split it amongst the three of us so I got to take home a souvenir of the wine tasting, of course once we drink it…

On Saturday we went the Cheesecake factory and a mall. It was a good day. Mom had some much needed Granddaughter-Grandma time and we relaxed and took a breather. It was very nice.

We also managed to go on a Harley motorcycle ride. It was a lot of fun. I managed to go by 5 different lakes around their home and they were all beautiful, of course I didn’t bring my camera or you would have those pictures… I suck. But it was beautiful none the less and it was interesting to see all the landscapes of Wisconsin. It reminded me a lot of the landscapes of the Mississinawa around Peru accept hillier.

On Sunday we headed to Wal-Mart to get a few things before heading back to Indiana and mom also purchased Lehna the HIT of the YEAR a Jump A Roo for Lehna… and let me tell you this is a WONDERFUL invention. It’s designed like a walker but it has the wonderful bungee cord that holds the seat in place. It gives the child the freedom to bounce up and down as much as possible. Let me tell you Lehna LOVES this toy for the day we got it she jumps for about an hour straight, she jumps in it so much it actually makes her winded. It’s also wearing her out to where she is sleeping through the night again… THANK GOODNESS! It’s wonderful THANK YOU AGAIN MOM!

P.S My coworker is working on an animated video of Lehna riding the motocycle so look for it soon!

WHINNY WEDNESDAY

Welcome to Whinny Wednesday I actually copied this off another Blog in which I found the entire blog HILARIOUS and I thought this idea was really fun so I’m incorporating it into my blog. To give the blog credit, in which I stole the idea is, http://aproka.blogspot.com/ some may find her not funny I find her Hilarious! So if you don’t like this… then I suggest not reading on Wednesdays…

10 Things To Whine About Today

1. Gum Shortage-Why is it when I REALLY need a piece of gum there is never one available nor is there a resource close to rectify the situation… it’s annoying

The Complete Update!

Well as promised I have a more complete update for this week and PICTURES to boot! I know it’s just an exciting day for all you readers out there!

"Look at what a BIG girl I am!"

Lehna went back to the doctor yesterday to check her progress from the breathing treatments. The doctor said she sounds worlds better she said that her nasal congestion is almost completely gone, but she is still concerned because she does still sound very raddley and raspy. So she wants us to see a specialist in Indianapolis September 7th. She said that from what she can hear she thinks that she has childhood asthma. The doctor feels that with her developing this at her age chances are she will probably grow out of it but she wants us to see the specialist. She also prescribed Lehna with an additional steroid for her breathing treatments that she needs. She said that steroid is a very very low dose and it’s basically for maintenance purposes and she said by Friday we should be able to cut down to just two treatments a day, which is good, but we need to continue until she sees the specialist. Well I was kind of disappointed that she still needs the treatments but I think it’s better to be safe then sorry. Lehna really does well with them she tries to grab the nasal of the inhaler and tries to put it in her mouth, she isn’t fussy or anything so that helps. It’s quite amazing the difference Lehna has been the last few days. She seems so much fuller of energy and she is talking soooooo much more. I really feel she couldn’t breathe so she didn’t have very much energy. She seems happier (if that’s possible) as well she is also talking sooooo much more and before she would barely babble, so this is all very positive. Below is a picture of her babbling

"Ahhhhhh grrraaaah"

So that was the verdict from the doctor. But overall she is a very happy baby and so hopefully she’ll continue to improve. On Saturday Tait and I went to a cook out at the Roy’s it was a lot of fun and we got to see Madison Michelle. Lehna and Madison will both be attending daycare together and they will be in the same room. I know it will be awhile before she will attend but it will be exciting to have both Madison and Lehna in the same class. Chris has wanted a baby girl for sooooo long and now she has her baby girl. Madison is very very little she was 4 lbs 12 oz when she left the hospital she was born 5 lbs 4 oz. But she’s like a little doll she’s so little. You may notice the little bandage on her cheek when they were removing her via c-section the doctor cut her but they said within a year her scar should not be noticeable. Below is a picture of the baby.

Madison Michelle

On Monday Tait had his 28th Birthday! So Tait and I went to dinner and Nana and Tanna baby sat for us. Helen (aka Nana) was telling us that Landyn had a hold of a chicken nugget and was holding it in front of Lehna well Lehna reached out and grabbed it from Landyn. I can’t believe just how quick Lehna’s reflexes are it’s hard to believe she’s only (almost) 5 months old! Her hand eye coordination is really good she grabs things successfully and puts them directly into her mouth! So we have to be careful what’s in her range of grabbing! Below are pictures of her playing on the floor and grabbing the items and staring at her hands. I maybe starting Lehna’s Piano Lessons sooner then I expected!
"I want this!"
Notice she's sitting Up!

She can now sit unassisted for about 30 seconds before falling over!

"Man these hands are just so interesting"

Well the plan for this weekend is to journey up to Wisconsin to visit Mom and Terry. I’m really looking forward to the event. Jackie and I are going to go up there since Tait can’t take any days off because of his new job SOOOOOOOO we are going to make an event of it! I think it will be a lot of fun and I know that mom is REALLY looking forward to seeing the munchkin again! So if all goes well we’ll be in Wisconsin Late Thursday night so it should be a good time! I know I will have a ton of pictures so be prepared!

Well until next week have a great week!

"What??"
This face is a killer!

Something to think about...

I’m kind of writing an early entry so far this week… Don’t worry I do have pictures to put up… but I forgot my camera, so I’ll be giving a more “complete” update next entry. Lehna goes to the doctor today so I want to update after that. But here is something strange that happened to me this weekend and I wanted to share.

A very good friend of mine gave me a book called “Dancing and Mourning” it’s a story about a woman who loses her husband and how she lives through life without him. She gave me this book after my father passed away about two years ago. When I first got the book I was kind of hesitant to read it because I just didn’t want to deal with my father’s passing and I certainly didn’t want a book to instruct me on how I should feel about the trial I was going through so I put it away for awhile. Well after a few months of pushing it around I have been reading it off and on, I must say that in the two years I still haven’t completed it because it does make me sad to read it and I can only take it in small doses. But something that did strike me in my book was a section about dreams. In the book it said that dreams are the worst as you are traveling down the path of morning because dreams can make the feelings that you have feel unreal. It said to be prepared every time you shut your eyes because in your dream you could possibly experience feeling as though your loved one was never gone and when you wake up you will have to live through the experience of facing the fact that their gone every day. Well I thought this was ridiculous because if anything I craved dreams in which I could see my father again alive, but unfortunately for me I never dreamed about my father. Instead I would have memory flashes of silly faces he would make and him howling like a ghost to scare us when we were young, and that was all I could remember. I would try and try to think of other things that he would say and do but I would be in a time block where I could only remember those particular things. And I would constantly get mad at myself because I couldn’t remember anything else like profound things he would tell me or certain times he would give me the facts of life, nothing just dumb faces and silly sounds. I kind of felt cheated like I should be thinking of more important things but couldn’t.

Well over the last two years my memory has definitely increased of the different memories I can remember of my father, which I’m so thankful for. It’s nice having the opportunity to go back and see him any way I want. Well I still wondered why in the world my book had an entire chapter devoted to dreams when I could never really experience any dreams. Well two years since his passing I finally had my first dream about my father.

It started out that he was in the hospital attached to a heart monitor and pace maker. I kept mentioning his heart monitors but he would never want to talk about them. He just kept telling me that they were necessary in order for him to come and talk to me. We talked about all kinds of things it was really amazing. I asked him if he was present when Lehna was born and he said that he was and I asked him about all different things and he said that he’s always with me. I then asked him what’s the worst part about being in heaven, and he said that the worst part about being in heaven is the fact that he doesn’t like watching us suffer. He said that when we are sad he can barely stand to watch. He said that he was with us when our grandparents died and he was with us again when Teresa died and he said that it was really hard on him. He said he’s of course with us but he said that it’s hard for him because he knows that there is nothing he can do and it hurts. Out of all the things that I would have imagined him to say that was not one of them. Well after our talk he said that it was time to go and he missed and loved us.

I woke up from this dream feeling very sad but then again very happy at the same time. It kind of felt like a relief was lifted off of me. I don’t really remember worry about anything and I can’t really describe what exactly it lifted but I felt better after I woke up. I went out and tried to tell Tait what I dreamt about but it took me quite awhile because I kept starting to cry when I did. But I did manage to tell him about it and I decided that I wanted to share my dream with all of you.

After being able to digest the dream a little bit more I think that it was a very strange experience but yet it was a very positive experience all at the same time. I enjoyed being able to see and talk with my father once again but do realize that it was a dream. I think that his spirit was definitely there and present in my dream which is a very comforting thought. I think that I am going to read the next chapter in that book because I feel like I’m ready to take the next step.

I will update you on Lehna’s progress very soon! Take care!

Mid-Afternoon Update

Well I decided to write another entry this week. I know I don’t have any pictures like I mentioned I would try to do… I suck badly I know! But I do have cute pictures… doesn’t that count for something? Probably not!

So I wanted to let everyone know that I took Lehna back to the doctor this week. As most of you know Lehna has had a cough from about the age of 6 weeks and I have mentioned it over and over to Lehna’s old pediatrician and always received the response that it was nothing, and there really isn’t anything you can do for it. Well lately Lehna’s cough has become increasingly worse. It’s been so bad to where she is no longer sleeping through the night because she wakes herself up with her coughing.

Well at her well baby appointment Lehna’s new pediatrician checked Lehna out and stated that she sounded very raspy and raddally (scientific terms). Well her new pediatrician told me that she was concerned about the sounds she was hearing and gave her some medication for me to try for her sinuses and she said it may help with her chest problems but if it doesn’t and if she still sounds congested to call her next week. Well she didn’t improve this weekend her sinuses aren’t bothering her any more but she still was coughing. So they had me bring her in. Her doctor said that she sounded even worse. I told the peditrician that she’s had this cough since she was six weeks old. The doctor then told me that she’s probably had this congestion in her for that long AND she said that she was surprised that it wasn’t worse! Can you believe that! So much for “oh it’s nothing and there’s nothing we can do!” I HATE the idea of what would have happened if we would have continued to take Lehna to her old Pediatrician… I mean we probably would have to deal with pneumonia which is SCARY STUFF! So Dr. Patel ordered her to do 5 breathing treatments a day and wants to see her again next week to check on her progress. She said that if when we go back on Monday if it’s not any better she will have to prescribe a steroid for her inhaler medication! I really want to go put the smack down on her old pediatrician b/c I mean that’s just ridiculous!

So hopefully Lehna will continue to get better. In the half a day of treatment that she recieved she was already coughing and getting rid of some of her congestion which is GREAT! I hope she continues to get better! Well thanks again for reading about us I will continue to update you on her progress! I hope everyone has a good rest of the week. I WILL have pictures next update!

The Adventures of the Weekend!

Well another weekend has come to an end and its back to the weekly rat race. I guess I really can’t complain all that much since I only worked three days last week! I have a feeling this week is really going to seem long and never ending… of course I could always be wrong.

This weekend was A LOT of fun. We headed to Peru on Friday night and went to the Wagner’s for the night. Jackie and I headed to Teresa’s house on Friday night to help Janet clean. Since Teresa passed away there is MUCH to be done on the house. Daniel is now shipped off to boot camp and he isn’t available to make sure things stay orderly and organized so the burden was passed on to Janet. Jackie and I both volunteered to help her out since it is A LOT of work. Well due to some pretty horrible traffic, and the horrible police directing traffic we got to Peru about 8:30 pm and we headed out to the house. Our policy was Dump and leave we wanted to get as much as done as possible but still not be there all night… So we started in the refrigerator and that went pretty smoothly overall we filled 4 BIG garbage full of trash from the refrigerator.

We needed to get EVERYTHING out b/c Daniel isn’t going to be back until December so anything in the refrigerator would have been bad. We also managed to get the freeze cleaned out. Well after we got that part done we headed for the pantry… Let’s just say there was sooooooo much in the pantry. The problem with the food in the pantry is all the box containers are rodent invitations so we HAD to clean all of those out whether they were open or not they HAD to go. Well I don’t know if any one has ever been in Teresa’s pantry but there was SOOOOOOOOO much food. I think that if the whole family could have been locked in her house for 3 years there still would have been enough food for everyone, probably even leftovers! Well we packed up all of the sealed boxed food and tossed all the open boxes.

Overall it took us about 3 hours. Well after we got done cleaning we then ran into a new problem… what to do with all the food… Well the VERY nice neighbor came and checked on the house when we were there (which was GREAT) and he said he would be willing to cart of the food the next morning but we were nervous about that… b/c most of the food we took out of the refrigerator was spoiled so it would just spoil even worse making our “cleaning” kind of worthless. So we thought maybe we would light a fire and burn all the food… well… we couldn’t find the burn barrel and then when we did locate the barrel it was surrounded by weeds… weeds that would have caused a forest fire if we would have started a fire…

So the solution. We decided to pack up all the food in the back of our SUV and find a dumpster and get the heck out of dodge. Simple plan right…

Well one would think this was child’s play but things were a bit more difficult than that. So as we were loading the bags we discovered that one of the bags that held the meat (of course) had a hole… and was leaking blood… Sooooo we had to find something to layer the car with so that we didn’t get blood all over the SUV b/c I know Tait would NOT be happy if that happened. So we searched and searched the house for something to use… then we found a very old sheet and towel and used that. Well it was kind of creep walking around the house at night where three people had passed away! The whole time as we would go into new rooms I would state very clearly and loudly “All ghosts just better stay hidden if you know what’s good for you” I know I know I’m brave. Well after we got the bags loaded we had to clean off the floor b/c there was blood on it… so we did that and we some how managed to get the blood on both of us… I don’t know exactly how it happened but it did.

We then locked up the house and started the search for a dumpster. Well I thought this would be a simple solution. Well I was wrong AGAIN! So we went to a few “seclude” places but we really couldn’t find anywhere to dump the stuff. Well the more we drove around the guiltier Jackie and I both started to feel. It kind of felt like we had just murdered someone and were searching for a place to dump the body. Well we finally found a dumpster and there was this big sign that there was a $500 fine for public dumping so we couldn’t dump there. Well finally we found somewhere and Jackie and I very quickly unloaded the bags of trash saving the meat bag for last. It was VERY heavy since we had to combine two of the bags to stop the leaking. Well we had to kind of roll it up the dumpster to get it in (we used the sheet and towel, to help keep the stuff off of us). Well after we rolled it in and closed the lid we looked at the dumpster and it seriously looked like we just dumped a body. It was the strangest thing ever. Well we went back to the Wagner’s and took showers. I mean we had to wash away the evidence. It was one crazy night!

I know that Janet was grateful for the help and I think that we did a good job. We didn’t get everything cleaned out but we did get accomplished the things we wanted to get done. It was nice being able to help Janet out because I know she has quite the chore trying to help Daniel keep things organized.

Well on Saturday it was the F.O.P yearly golf tournament. I have been waiting for this tournament all year! It’s such a fun tournament b/c you can make up your own teams, it’s all you can eat and drink as well! And I’m not just talking about Pepsi! So it was A LOT of fun. I of course over indulged and I don’t think I embarrassed my family or myself too much. (Compared to last year) Our team consisted of Jackie, Marcus, Tait, and I. The other team was Trent, Tanna, Travis, and Tim. I think both teams had a really good time. Our team didn’t win but we did have a good time playing. I think Marcus and Jackie need to get on the course more often! Tait was a little disappointed b/c we didn’t win and I hope he wasn’t too disappointed but we were three under par so that’s got to say something! Trent, Tanna, Travis, and Tim came in dead last and for coming in last they received a $40 prize! But I think even though they came in last they still had a good time. The best thing about this tournament is it was a scramble so it made it less torture for those that haven’t had a lot of practice or experience with golf. Tait and I have decided that we are both going to have to play more next year. I know the summer isn’t over yet but two rounds in one year simply aren’t enough. I definitely would like to play more! I really enjoy taking new people out golfing because I like to show them how much fun the game is… so if anyone is ever interesting in going out with us LET US KNOW! We would be more than willing to take you out! I think next year we need to take Christina and Kris out so they can have some experience hitting the ball around! I would like to see Kris’ swing b/c Marcus and my dad have the EXACT same golf swing so I would like to see if Kris shares the same characteristics! It was freaky! It was like seeing a ghost!

Well that was pretty much our weekend. We had another great weekend but I think the plans for this weekend is just to relax… THANK GOODNESS. We have been on the go for the past month! So it will be nice to take a breather… of course our lawn is certainly calling our names… hopefully it won’t rain too much after I don’t want to have to mow the yard with a machete! Sorry for the lack of pictures… I’ll put some up this weekend. Take care everyone and have a GREAT weekend!

The Ups and Downs of Parenthood…

Well another week has passed us by and it wouldn’t be complete without a Lehna having a few firsts mixed in! Lehna this weekend was in an “event” this weekend… I mentioned it briefly last week and I have decided to write about it in fuller detail. Lehna was entered into the Warren County Cutest Baby Contest this weekend. I had my reservations about the contest because I don’t 100% agree with putting babies in contests and I didn’t want this event to come bite me in the butt later, you know when Lehna is going through her “awkward” stage… but… even with my reservations I entered her into the contest. Well I have to say she didn’t win, it was sad. But in defense there were 15 different babies in her category AND I think the contest was RIGGED! It was very interesting to me that in each division of the baby contest the winner was always the baby that had a man holding the child. Now I know what your thinking… that couldn’t possibly be but I saw evidence of this! Every time the man held the baby that baby mysterious won… the only time that didn’t happen is when there were no men in the category holding a baby. Then they HAD to give it to the baby with the mom… I mean they couldn’t be toooooo obvious. So with this being said… the reason Lehna didn’t win the baby contest is b/c Tait wasn’t there… that’s right this is all Tait’s fault! LOL I’m just kidding of course. It was sad that she didn’t win but I know she’s soooo adorable and little did I know she was coming down with the flu that day so she wasn’t in her “baby contest mind set” So here are some pictures of the contest the picture below is the picture of the “winner.” I know that Lehna is the cutest! And I didn’t need a panel of judges to tell me that!

Isn’t she a cutie!

So after the baby contest we went to Grandma and Grandpa Wagner’s house to let them have some time with the baby. I think they really enjoyed themselves.

That evening Lehna woke up and started to cry demanding a bottle… well Tait and I gave her her normal 6oz bottle and thought that everything was fine… that was until her little tummy decided that it was UPSET! And after her little 6 oz bottle EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING in her little tummy came back to the surface. It was HORRIBLE! So for the next 10 hours Lehna was still getting a regular bottle but we would see it again! Well on Sunday morning I decided to call Lehna’s new pediatrician to see what was going on. Earlier last week we took Lehna to her old pediatrician and they said she had an upper respiratory infection and that there wasn’t anything they could do… So when I talked to her new pediatrician she said that there is a flu that is going around that starts in the chest and then moves down to their tummies making food impossible to stay down. So she put Lehna on a Pedialyte Diet for the next 8 hours and if she was having problems keeping that down then she would have to go to the ER. And she was only to have 1 oz… Well when Lehna went from a 6 oz bottle to just a little 1 oz bottle she was having some MAJOR hunger pains. So we tried to slow down her bottle intake as slow as possible but even then she was still crying after her bottle. Well we managed to get through the weekend. Of course she was eating every hour and cried after her ounce was gone but she did manage to keep the pedialyte down and that’s all I was most concerned about. So on Sunday night we started reintroducing her regular bottle again… apparently a little too soon b/c her tummy rejected it ALL again! So I stayed home with Lehna on Monday and put her back on the pedialyte diet and called her pediatrician (again). Sooooooo she said keep trying the formula but if she still rejects it then she may need to have the pedialyte diet again for 12 hours…. Sooooo I was up in the air about work on Tuesday! But Little Lehna has pulled through her ordeal I am glad to say. She is working slowly introducing her regular milk and she is almost back up the 6-7oz mark. So hopefully in another week or so we can try introducing solid foods to her. I want to make sure this tummy thing is goooooood and over before trying!

Here are some additional pictures of Lehna as she played with the camera. Even though Lehna was coming down with the flu she still has been playful and in good spirits so what more could moms want!

I also wanted to mention that Tait has started his new job this week. He is now training in Indianapolis every day which is soooooo nice b/c I get to ride with him everyday! And he really really likes his job so I’m sooooo excited for him. He won’t start working in Tippecanoe until October. So thanks again for reading about us this week sorry it was a bit, well, gross, but that’s the joys of being a parent!
