Update!

Okay now I know that I’m starting to slack when my husband asks me about updating my blog so that just goes to show you that I’m really being lazy!

Just so you all know I’m STILLLLLLLL pregnant! I know that I have like 19 days to go but still I was at least hoping to go EARLY would that be too much to ask! Okay enough of this let me give you the 411 on Maya.

I did go to the doctor on Thursday March 8th for an unexpected doctor’s appointment b/c I wanted to see if they wanted me to travel to Peru this weekend AND they did a check. Basically they said that I am dilated to 1 cm and I’m about 50% effaced. Which by the way is great news also Maya’s head is right where it needs to be (pressing up against my bladder, making it impossible to move without having the feeling of having to go pee). She said that she may not come down any more since this is the second baby. They said they normally don’t come down as far but she might I’m thinking any more pressure on my bladder and I will have to wear diapers! I have gained about a pound and a half so I’m hoping that that’s ALLLLLL baby! So she’s probably about 7lbs and some ounces which are about where Lehna was when she was born. Also they did measure my belly again to see how “big” I am and I’m measuring at 39.5 cms which means I’m measuring about 2 cms bigger then where I’m supposed to be which I don’t know if that is a predictor or what I sure hope so though! She didn’t really know what to suggest she said since Peru is within an hour’s drive to Lafayette that it would probably be okay, but Tait and I decided to play it safe and we stayed home. I walked and walked and walked some more this weekend just trying to move things along.

So this weekend we pretty much didn’t do a ton of things. I was able to get the laundry COMPLETLEY done and I’m talking COMPLETELY I even got the odds and ends done like bath mats and such so I was EXCITED about that. I also picked up my living room about 5 billion times. Lehna just loves to make messes then walk away. We have been working with her but she still just doesn’t grasp the concept that she has to put away the toy first before getting another toy so we’ll have to see what happens about that so far we have been unsuccessful.

One thing that I didn’t know Lehna could do that we just discovered is Lehna can count to ten all by her self! I know that sounds kind of odd that I don’t know that she could do that, but they have been working on it at daycare and they just don’t go over everything that they are learning at daycare and we normally don’t see her teacher we normally get there after her teacher has left for the day. But Lehna was standing in the kitchen doing her normal “Lehna thing” and she started counting her steps as she walked and she went from one-ten without any help. She also tried to continue from 10 but she just started randomly stating numbers so I think they are working on adding more then just 1-10 but right now they are stopping at 10. I knew she knew her alphabet b/c she will sing the song to you if you ask her to so I was pretty excited about it.

Lehna’s 2 year birthday is next week! I can’t believe it’s truly amazing just how fast time flies by. I know I have had a few people ask me if we are going to do anything for her birthday and right now I can’t say for certain unfortunately with baby Maya coming ANYTIME we don’t want to make too many plans b/c I don’t want to have to cancel them later. So we really don’t know what we are going to do probably just a cake and that’s about it unless baby Maya decides to cooperate and we will be able to have a little thing for welcoming that baby AND being able to celebrate Lehna’s bday. So everything is pretty much in the air right at this moment. I have her birthday present so I feel prepared for that but I don’t have a cake or anything like that but it’s just too early to get that kind of stuff. She really likes Elmo so maybe something Elmo as far as the cake but again it’s just too hard to judge. Helen was talking about it last night that she may have bring a cake to the hospital or something like that so we’ll just have to wait and see. Darn stork!

So that’s pretty much life right now I hope baby comes soon or I will die! LOL okay so I won’t die but still!!!!

News from our corner of the planet

Okay so I know I’m a week behind in update but it’s been a crazy two weeks! So enough excuses welcome to the update.

First bit of news is Tanna and Sam welcomed Baby Decklyn Samai Finnegan into the world on Tuesday March 5, 2007 at 4:59 a.m. I think my earlier post said a different time but I don’t know if anyone really knew on Tuesday. I haven’t seen her yet besides pictures but I’m told she doesn’t have the classic Wagner nose… I won’t be able to judge until I have seen her for myself so it’s hard to say. Tanna said she’s having a hard time keeping her hands off of her so I think she’s a keeper. Landyn has some mixed feeling about his new baby sister. He is trying to adjust the best he can and they are all helping him through it. He is starting to show some protective attributes about his sister. Sam’s mom was talking to baby Decklyn and said that she wanted to take her home with her and Landyn very STRONGLY stated “no that’s my sister” so that’s a good sign. It will take some adjustment but I’m sure he’ll come around with flying colors. Tanna is home now she was released yesterday and has set up home with Sam and Landyn will be moving out there probably by next week once Tanna gets of the first initial week of having a baby. She’s nervous about it but I think it will be good for her and Landyn.

The second bit of news I have is I had my third ultrasound last week and there is some interesting news with that. They did the ultrasound b/c my belly was measuring about 2 weeks ahead of schedule and with the ultrasound they have confirmed that baby is measuring BIG. Which of course has me a little concerned only b/c I know this baby will have to come out “some way” and the idea of having a 12 lbs baby really doesn’t sound very appealing to me CALL ME CRAZY? She is was measuring at the time of the ultrasound 5lbs 8oz and from this point on you put on about a pound a week and I still have about 4 weeks left. Soooo we are looking at a 9-10 lbs baby if she continues to put on weight like she’s ‘supposed’ to. It’s hard to believe that this girl only has about 4 more weeks before we have another rugrat (soon) to run around. The ultrasound was really amazing they recently got a new ultrasound machine and it was so clear even the normal 2D we watched her yawn and put her fingers in her mouth. They were then able to switch it to 3D and we could really see her face really clear. I think she is going to look just like her older sister b/c she DEFINTELY has the Wagner nose. So it will be exciting when she finally decides to make her way here. I have been waiting and waiting for Tanna to have Decklyn b/c I knew that I wouldn’t be far behind.

I was able to train my “fill in” at work the girl who will be taking my place while I’m on maternity leave and was able to contact all my clients to let them know I wasn’t going to be there. It took 2 ½ hours to get her up to speed on all my clients and I wrote her a tip sheet so she can have a quick reference to look back on when I’m gone. I am sure she will have questions and there maybe a chance she’ll have to call me with questions but I think that there are enough people in the office that will be able to help her which ever way she will need. Becky (that’s her name) is nervous about taking over for me so I think that’s sweet. I told her that she can change whatever she wants as long as the end results are the same that’s all I care about. So I figure now that she’s up to speed and ready to go that I can now go anytime. I think mentally I was waiting for that to be completed b/c I didn’t want to leave Becky completely in the dark. Tait has also been able to get all of his hours for two weeks to be off which is GREAT b/c now I will have extra hands for another week. My mom is planning on coming down for a week but with two kids I will be grateful to have an extra set of hands for another week! So now we can have baby Maya b/c we are now “prepared”.

The third bit of news is Lehna’s birthday is literally in 3 weeks! I can’t believe that she will be two years old! I have been saying she’s two like for the last couple of months only b/c I hate doing the math when people ask how old she is. Tait and I have decided that we are going to get her train with some tracks. I know that’s not the most exciting thing in the world as far as being a “girl” toy but to be honest this kid does not need another doll or stroller, so I figured that a train would be good b/c it would be new. I mean I know she plays with Landyn’s trains when she’s around him. I just can’t believe that she is going to be two already it just seems like she was just born.

Lehna now knows all of her animal sounds and can identify them in a picture. She likes to Moo so usually the first animal you ask her what do they say she’ll say “moo” then you say try again she’ll tell you the correct sound. But we are working on learning the colors right now. She loves to say the work Yellow she says it like “lallow” but that’s usually the first thing she’ll say when you ask her what color something is. She still is confused on what color is what but we are working on it. She’ll get it. She also gets confused to say when things are on and off she is always saying the opposite of what she wants. If the light is on and she’ll want to turn it off she’ll ask to turn the light on but then you correct her then she’ll say it right. I know eventually she’ll get it. One positive thing is Lehna used to say “I want bottle” and I’ll tell her no bottles are for babies you are a big girl what about a cup… she now asks “I want bottle, no I mean a cup” so that’s a positive thing. I know that once Maya does appear she will want her bottles but I think one drink from it and she won’t want it anymore. She does have an Elmo container that we call her Elmo bottle that she’ll request for every once and awhile but usually a cup is good enough for her. It’s amazing just to see her little mind work. I like to try to get her choices when I offer her things and sometimes she gets confused but I’m trying to get her options. She will tell me that she wants a cookie and I’ll hold two types out either chocolate chip or an Oreo and I’ll ask her which one she will look at both and go “this” and point to both… and I tell her to choose one and she’ll usually make the choice but it’s almost like you can see her wheels turning when you tell her that she has to choice between the two of choices.

The potty training is of course coming. It’s still a game to her and anytime she gets to sit on the potty she gets excited about it. So if she requests to sit on the potty we make a big deal of it and let her sit on the potty. She doesn’t really want to sit on the potty chair but instead the insert that goes in the “big” potty is where she wants to sit, which to me I really don’t care which she wants to use as long as she’s requesting to use it. But I need to work on getting her a reward system like a sticker or something b/c she LOVES stickers and I think that would be good for her. I just have to do something like that and I have been dragging my feet big time on it. I just need a poster board so that I can keep it updated. I would like to post I in the bathroom so she can just jump down and put a sticker up I think she’ll like that A LOT! I just have to do it! Her actually use of the potty is another story usually if she tells you she wants to sit on the potty that means she’s already wet so she hasn’t quite go that part down yet… but I know she will.

As far as other things going on there really isn’t much going on. Tait and I have decided that we are going to clean and vacuum the cars this weekend. I’m hoping that it stays nice all weekend. I really want to wash the car BAD and Tait said that his car needs shop vac’d pretty bad too. It’s supposed to be like 50 degrees this weekend so we’ll get it done this weekend. As you can tell I have been nesting quite a bit. This week I was a good girl and kept up on the laundry I only have like 2 loads left and it’s not even the weekend! So I’m excited about that. If it’s windy I may hang our blankets and sheets out on the line if I can get all caught up. I love that outdoor fresh smell.

Welcome to the world Baby Decklyn

Big Announcment! I have a new Niece! Decklyn she's 8 lbs and 1/2 oz. She was born this morning to Tait's sister Tanna & Sam. She was brought into this work at 4:15 a.m. Tanna had 5 hours of labor so she went VERY quickly! She was 19 3.4 inchs long so she is VERY long. I have a picture of her that they sent me.

This is Decklyn after only 5 hours of being welcomed into the world!

Here's another picture of Decklyn. Tanna said she's being sneaking and sleeping right now.
