A Weekend of Firsts!

Well another weekend has come to end, and it was filled with firsts for Lehna. On Thursday night, Lehna and I traveled to Peru to visit our family. My Aunt Sam come from California this weekend and Lehna got to meet her for the very FIRST time! It was great. Lehna was being a very sweet angel the whole time. Below are pictures of Lehna and Sam and Lehna and Grandma.

We hung out with Sam and Grandma all Friday afternoon and it was really GREAT! Friday night Helen, Tanna, Landyn, Lehna and I went downtown for Lehna’s very FIRST Circus City Carnival. It was PACKED on Friday. There were so many people there. I was actually disgusted with the amount of little girls dressed like strippers that lined the streets of downtown Peru. That was VERY disturbing… I kept whispering to Lehna that she would NEVER dress like that and leave MY house! It was quite shocking. But other than that, Lehna got to see the elephant and she also watched Landyn and Tanna ride the ponies. I was a little leery of getting so close to the elephant (even though I KNOW it was tame) ,but I guess I have seen too many T.V shows where the elephant goes on a rampage and stomps on people… I was watching that elephant out of the corner of my eye the whole time we were there. Silly, but I couldn’t help it.

After strutting around town for about an hour and a half we went back up to Tim and Helen’s. Tait came to Peru after work so he was already settled in at the Wagner’s.

On Saturday, morning the whole house got up VERY early and started our day. Helen and Tanna went and did some shopping at 6:00 am, Tait went golfing, and Lehna and I went to grandmas to catch the parade.

Lehna and I got to the parade route at about 8:10 am and most of the streets were already blocked off. So I found a barricade that was short and just drove around it to get to my grandmother’s house. Once we got there we then walked up to the library to watch Lehna’s very FIRST Circus City Parade. I was nervous that Lehna would be bothered by the loud sirens and noisy pipe organs, but Lehna just took the event in stride. She just played with her hands and sat quietly on Aunt Sam and Grandma’s lap. Below is a picture of a pipe organ.

Here is a picture of everyone that went to the parade on Saturday… Make sure you click the picture to see who everyone is!

Here are pictures of some of the animals that were in the parade. I took more pictures of the other animals but they didn’t turn out very well.

Kangaroos in a Parade!

Here are these HUGE horses. Look how BIG he is compared to the handler right next to him. I was VERY impressed by their size. The rear horse was kind of dancing to the music which was kind of funny to watch. He would try to trot along; of course the parade had come to a stop so he was getting kind of ancy to move.

LOOK HOW BIG THIS HORSE IS COMPARED TO THE TRAINER!

Here’s a picture of my cousin Bradly and his fire truck. He’s a member of the volunteer Fire Department in Mexico (Indiana…).

After the parade we went to The Siding for lunch with my grandmother. Every year she likes to take all of us out for a group birthday lunch. It was a lot of fun. Lehna pretty much slept the whole time we were at lunch except when our food came and then she was WIDE awake. Thank goodness grandma was done eating so she took her and played with her while I ate.

After the lunch we went to Grissom to hit some golf balls. Marcus, Jackie, Tait, and I are all on a team for the Peru Police Department Annual Golf Scramble. I am VERY excited about this tournament. It is a day full of golf, with a steak lunch, and free ALCOHOL! Last year I had a GREAT time so I hope this year I hope will be the same. We don’t really expect to win, I just want to have a good time. We figured we should probably let Marcus and Jackie have some practice time so they could get familiar with their golf clubs. I think both Marcus and Jackie had a good time hitting balls.

After hitting some golf balls we were sooooo hot and sweaty since the heat index was 102 on Saturday. So we went to the Little’s house for a little dip in the pool. This was Lehna’s FIRST time in the pool and she had a great time. She has learned how to splash and was kicking up a storm. I told Tait that her next bath it going to be a wet one for us. She really had a good time. She only cried once when she head kind of went underwater and it didn’t take her too long to be “okay” Tait picked her up and stopped crying instantly. I think she just got scared. Below are pictures of Lehna and I in the pool.

Lehna’s first time in the pool!

Lehna and Jackie playing around

Lehna was pretty tired after all of her firsts but on Sunday she had one other FIRST. Lehna had her first real bite of adult food. Lehna has shown an interest in food for the last few weeks and on Sunday was no exception. Tait was eating a vanilla Jell-O pudding pop and Lehna kept reaching for it. Tait held it for her to take a lick but she didn’t understand what we wanted her to do so I broke of a frozen chunk and stuck it in her mouth. After first her tongue did the natural reflex and pushed it out but it didn’t take her long to figure it out She had four bites of the pudding pop and it went over really well. I can’t wait until her doctor’s appointment on August 4th so we can get the go ahead to give her “real” food. She stares at us every time we eat and she is starting to reach for cups as we try to take a drink. I know both Tait and I would be VERY excited about the idea of her starting real food… no more formula for her!

Well that was our weekend. I’m kind of glad the weekend is over so I can get some relaxing in since we were so busy. Next weekend the plan is to go back to Williamsport. Lehna is going to be involved in an “event” there. I don’t want to give too much away because if she doesn’t win, then she will NEVER KNOW she was EVER entered. Okay well I think that is enough of a hint. I hope everyone has a great week. Please check out Lehna’s 3-4 month Photo Album for more pictures from this weekend.

Another Reunion!!

Another work week has begun and I’m already wishing for the weekend. That’s probably not the best when it’s only Monday.

This past weekend Tait, Lehna and I were busy, busy, busy. I enjoy being busy but boy do I miss the times we were can just relax and watch TV. On Saturday Tait, Trent, Lehna, and I went to Indianapolis. Tait and Trent went to go watch the North vs. South High School All-Star football players.

Tait has been waiting anxiously for the new football season. He has talked of nothing else since the season ended last year. The new college football game for Play Station came out last week so Tait has been spending all of his free time, when we aren’t running around, playing his video game. There are new features and all kinds of “really” exciting things on it. But with the new game coming out, that means the football season is right around the corner. Personally it couldn’t come FAST enough. The 100 different football magazines that are scattered around the living room are starting to get torn and tattered from Tait reading them over and over. He is constantly saying that he can’t wait until football season to start. This year is going to be a lot of fun. Marcus and Jackie have purchased season tickets for the Purdue football games so we are going to be able to add them to the tailgate party! I can’t WAIT! For me Tailgating is the BEST part about the football season. I do enjoy watching the Boilermakers kick some butt but tailgating definitely makes the experience more enjoyable! While the boys went to watch the football game in the rain Lehna and I went to visit Marcus and Jackie.

Here is a picture of Tait holding Lehna while reading one of his football magazines... It looks likes she’s really into this football stuff...

Daddy, what’s football?

Jackie and I did some errands, and of course stopped at Once upon a Child and rented a movie. Jackie got Lehna a bathing suit which is SUPER cute on Lehna. I’m hoping to put the suit to use this weekend! We rented the movie In Good Company. It was a good movie but, it ended kind of sucky. Jackie played with Lehna on the floor and Marcus worked on his final. It was a good day. We also managed to get the house looking clean and organized.

On Sunday Tait, Lehna, Trent, and I all headed down to Williamsport for the Brooks Family reunion. It was a lot of fun. It was amazing to see all the little kids, and to see how much they have grown. I didn’t take a bunch of pictures but I did take a few. I also identified them so if you want to see who everyone is you will have to click the pictures. I know some of the people aren’t identified but I couldn’t really tell who was who on some of them… especially the little kids!

It was amazing to me to see how much FOOD that was there. I brought my yummy banana pudding desert but since there was SOOOOO MUCH it didn’t get finished, but I know the people that did eat it really liked it… so I’m okay with that.

So here are a few pictures from the event…

One thing that did happen at the reunion was one of the younger cousins that was there had a nasty trick played on him. They put a funnel down his pants and told him to drop a quarter, that was placed on his forehead, down into the funnel and if he did it he would get a prize. Well the kid put the quarter on his head and leaned back really far and as he did they poured Ice Cold water down his pants it was HILARIOUS. I guess they do this trick all the time… it’s kind of a family tradition… you’d think that the little kids would know, but they fall for it all the time! It was pretty funny. Most of the kids and adults went to the swimming pool for the later part of the afternoon. I brought Lehna’s swimsuit but I didn’t bring the little swimmer diapers and the only store in Attica didn’t have her size so Lehna couldn’t go swimming. Hopefully when we go to Peru this weekend we’ll be able to go to Vicki’s to swim. I know Lehna enjoys her bath time so I would imagine she would like to swim.

This coming weekend I am taking a vacation day on Friday and taking Lehna to Peru. We are going to see my Aunt Sam (who I haven’t seen since Christmas) and my mom (who I haven’t seen in about a month), so it should be a lot of fun. I know they are VERY excited to see Lehna and to be able to play with her. She has changed so much since my mom has seen her even though there are millions of pictures of Lehna she seems soooo different in person! We are going to be visiting during Circus City Days and I’m very excited about taking Lehna to the parade and to the festive downtown. I know it won’t be anything too exciting, but I know there will be LOTS of people in Peru wondering around that I haven’t seen in sooooooooo long so it will be nice to show Lehna off.

Well that’s our exciting life for now. Thank you for reading about us!

GOOD AFTERNOON, SPORTS FANS!

Well maybe not, but I’m here, its Monday, and I’m actually organized enough to get my update out on Monday instead of Tuesday… small victories I guess!

GREAT NEWS FIRST! Tait got a NEW JOB! Yeah yeah yeah! He is going to start August 1st and he will be working for the great state of Indiana as a Case Worker. They called him on Friday and said, “we want you!” And he said, “okay!” Well, it was a bit more professional than that but you get my point! I’m sooooooo excited and I know he is too. He was VERY cute the whole weekend as he sang “I’m going to quit my job, I’m going to quit my job!” over and over again. It was wonderful.

The rat tricked me though! We had a voicemail on Friday and they said for them to call back… well I called Tait ASAP and told him to check the voicemail. He said he already had and had called the lady back BUT she was already gone for the weekend…. So to keep his spirits up I told him it’s got to be good news, because why would they call back… and he agreed. Well what I didn’t know was he had ALREADY talked to the lady and had accepted the job… he didn’t tell me until he got home. He said he wanted to tell me face to face and boy was I EXCITED! So his run at Ladoga will soon be over THANK GOODNESS!

So, I just wanted to tell you all thank you soooooo much for your support that you gave Tait and your words of encouragement. He really was struggling with what to do and now he has his answer. And also thank you for the support that you gave me. We both really appreciate it.

Well this was another very busy weekend… but what else would you expect! On Saturday all 7 1/2 of us got together for a night of games and excitement. I didn’t get a lot of pictures but Jackie did take some really cute ones so I’m going to post both of our pictures!

"Ahhhhhhhh Boooooo"

Aunt Jackie is soooo silly!

Lehna’s new chair! Can you believe it’s a GIRAFFE? Boy I hope she likes Giraffes! It’s really ADORABLE! I actually want to pick up 2 more! So when she has tea parties she can have matching chairs!

Yummy chair!

Such a big girl!

This is Lehna playing cards with Kris and Christina.

Which card to play... SUCH a decision!
Notice the fishy face?

Awwww.... Uncle Kris is sooo comfortable!

Here is another one of Daniel under the table… I guess he thought that the couch was too soft…

On Sunday we headed down to Williamsport for the Kennedy Family Reunion… there was a turn out of 84 people! But I think a lot of them were children. Lehna got passed around A LOT! I am going to post some of the pictures that I took… now I don’t know who most of these people are sooo I can’t ID them for you… and Tait was no help in the id process… since he didn’t know who most of them were either! Lehna did win the youngest family member contest!

(I know these people) Yep that’s my flower girl Makylia and her mom Lisa. I can’t believe just how much Makylia’s grown!

Here is Lehna with Grandpa Wagner and Grandma Wagner

Baby kisses!

Here is Lehna with Grandma Wagner!

Lehna was much better this visit. She wasn’t fussy and enjoyed being passed around. This is a GOOD thing because she was passed A LOT. We went to Grandma and Grandpa's after dinner. She even managed to play a little with Tanna and Grandma on the floor. After that Lehna was zonked so she took a little nap! Landyn and Camryan played with the beach ball.

Hurry, get the ball!

You have to share, Landyn!

I'll get it Landyn.

Well, I decided that since some of you know who everyone is… there are some of you out there that don’t know who any of my pictures are… so I decided to make a little diagram…

Well this next weekend we have another family reunion in Williamsport… so we will be heading back down there for the Brook’s Family reunion on Sunday. My pudding dessert was a hit at the Kennedy family reunion so I’m going to try it at the Brook’s reunion… I just hate making stuff and then no one eats it… it’s embarrassing! So I’m going to put a few more pictures on here. So enjoy and everyone have a GREAT week!

Thank you for stopping by!

Smile Pretty!

All ready for bed

I don’t know about your Aunt Jackie...

Lehna LOVES being naked!

"Am I doing this right?"
