Vacation Update

Well we had an exciting weekend. We went to Wisconsin this past weekend/Week and let me tell you we had a BLAST!!! We had so much fun it was great, another awesome thing was the kids were wonderful they were both very well behaved and good the entire trip. There were only a few hiccups but for the majority of the time they were sooooo good!

We left Wednesday night from daycare. Tait’s parents were nice enough to let us use their van and that was really nice. We had entertainment for Lehna the entire journey back and forth, they have a VCR and monitor in their car so we watched Wiggles, Little Einstein’s, Veggie Tales, and Dora. Well I should say we listened to those shows we didn’t really watch them since they were facing the back seats, but it was great b/c Lehna was so entertained by them.

We arrived in a few short 5 hours up, which was good. We only ran into a little weather at the very tail end of our journey which we hit in Wisconsin just north of Milwaukee which we only had like 2 hours left and it was just rainy nothing serious just annoying. We found out later that the van only had one headlight so it made it a bit more difficult to see through the rain but we survived. Once we got there Mom had made us some pizza bread and they played with their grandkids. Lehna warmed up to mom and Terry after about an hour and she played with them all weekend!

On Thursday we hung around the house. Which was very relaxing. Lehna and Terry went to the park in the afternoon and Lehna LOVED that she loves playing and swinging at the part so Terry was willing to take her so she got VERY BUDDY BUDDY with her b/c of that. Here are some pictures of us playing around the house and stuff.

The next morning we headed off to the Children’s museum, which is in Milwaukee, which was only about 2 hours away. The museum was pretty cool over all it was a bit crowed I’m used to the very large children’s museum in Indianapolis and this was about a ¼ of the size. It basically had one floor but all the exhibits where so kid focused that there were actually things to do. Tait made the comment that at the Indianapolis children’s museum there are things for the kids to do but most of them are broken or missing so it doesn’t make it very fun for kids. This was a lot of fun b/c all of the toys were directed at Lehna’s age and above so she made things and played in the different exhibits. Her favorite spot was a windy slide in the music area of museum that she went to visit twice. We brought the stroller for Maya but we carried her for the majority of the journey, note to self-next time bring the baby pocket swing for the baby instead of the stroller. My favorite part of the museum was this section for the “artistic child.” They had this really cool machine that made you look like you were a conductor of an orchestra. Well you waved your baton and that controlled the speed of the music so I had a lot of fun with that. Lehna didn’t quite understand what we were doing so I kept taking it from her showing her how to do it, hehehe okay so I just liked to play with it. But it was pretty cool, below are some pictures of that part of the museum I’ll try to write underneath what is going on but they are pretty self-explanatories.

When we got back to the house we had an awesome steak dinner that mom prepared for us. Terry’s friends came over Judy and Paul they were traveling through on their way to Indianapolis to visit their son so they wanted to go and visit them. They don’t see Terry and mom very often so they stopped by. They were nice people so I was okay sharing my time with parents with them.

On Saturday we were off to two new places to Ella’s Deli and also to the Henry Vila’s Zoo, these places are in Madison and they were about an hour southwest from them. It was a nice drive to the zoo we only got lost once going there. The zoo was a bit difficult to park at but the zoo was really nice. It was free which was really strange and they zoo seemed cleaned and well taken care of. The zoo was pretty small it was about the size of the Fort Wayne zoo so not too large but big enough that it spread out people so we weren’t right on top of each other. They had all different types of animals there everything from Pythons to Polar Bears I mean not too shabby for a place that was literally in the middle of a housing addition. It reminded me lot like the Colombian Zoo you know just kind of in the middle of the street not really where you expect to see a zoo but that’s where it was located at. It was a pretty cute zoo overall. I am posting some pictures of the zoo.

We also went to this little deli after we went to the zoo called Ella’s Deli. It was a crazy little deli there were so many things that were hanging from the ceiling that moved and twisted around. There were pretty cool things like in the glass like our table had origami displays, which were like a big shadow box, but you ate on top of the shadow box, it was pretty fun. The food was good as well. Well after we ate the deli happened to have a carousal that you could ride on with some tokens. That was a lot of fun. The carni running the ride after out time was over asked us if we wanted to switch horses. Tait told him no that one time was plenty for us and then he went on about how they guy didn’t have any tokens b/c the people inside took them from him. We just kind of smiled and said oh okay. We had no idea what he was talking about but once on the horse was enough for us.

Lehna was great the entire time. She played with Terry and that was quite a huge step for her she went right up to him and asked him to take her to the park and also where we was when he left the room. This is so great for her she is usually so nervous or shy around him. Also she warmed up to mom really well too so that was very encouraging.

We had a great time in Wisconsin with Tait’s parents moving up there really soon Tait and I are really debating moving up there as well. I don’t think it’s something we are going to do right away or anything like that but something we maybe looking to do in the future. We just had such a great time. We decided we would go back in February mom has been talking about going to Dell’s in Wisconsin every since they moved there and I think next time we will make that a reality. We just had so much fun there so that will be fun going to the indoor water parks in wintertime.

Maya has learned how to roll over. She was really close when we were in Wisconsin so when we came home the first thing we did is put her on the bed and she rolled over like she had been doing it all her life. So that was exciting. Another funny game that Maya is doing is she takes blankets or diapers and puts them over her face. She puts them so they are placed right over her face then once she gets it there she starts to wave her hands and kick her legs. Then once we pull the blanket it off of her head she just smiles and puts the blanket back over her head. It’s the silliest thing ever. I am putting pictures of that b/c it’s pretty funny.

Well that was our weekend. We did have a good time there. It was something that I can’t wait to go back to do it was a nice vacation. I think Tait really had a good item and I know the girls had a great time. I love being able to see mom it’s just really nice.

2 Week Update!

So much to update… so I will try to keep it as SHORT as possible but I do have a tendency to ramble on and on AND I haven’t updated in 2 weeks so let’s just so MUCH has happened.

Let’s start with the simple stuff first. Tait turned 30!! This past week! He had been counting down like the dooms day clock every since January and now that it’s come and pass he can say that he survived it, with very little injury. We had a nice celebration. Helen and Tim had taken our children from Sunday-Wednesday of last week so on Tait’s birthday we got our children back. All I have to say is THANK YOU HELEN AND TIM! It was such a nice break. Lehna was on my very last nerve. Recently she’s going through this two year old “stage” and let me tell you it’s been AWFUL! She won’t listen she refuses to sit quietly for ANY length of time and her behavior can go from ‘good girl to ROTTEN child’ in seconds. It’s so unpredictable she gets mad at silly things and becomes frustrated VERY easily and when that comes there is NO reasoning with the child. So when Helen and Tim offered to take our children it was SOOOOO wonderful! I was all over the idea because I NEEDED a break. So after a refreshing 3 days of NO children I was ready to be able to handle Lehna once again. She still is having her Mood swings but at least I’m not ready to kill her when the evil Lehna appears. So Tait’s parents took us out for dinner for Tait’s birthday, then the next day I made Tait’s favorite meal and we had ice cream cake. It was just a small thing for his birthday. I feel bad b/c I know Tait was really expecting something grand since he’s been talking about his birthday sine January and I feel bad disappointing him he says he’s not but it still makes me feel bad.

Lehna Looking Pretty Cute!

Some Lehna health news while Lehna was at Tait’s parents she was playing outside with Tanna and Landyn when she fell to the ground and her eyes rolled back into her head again. She did not shake she just kind of acted out of it just really spacey for about 2-5 seconds. Tanna said they brought her inside and she had a retired Sheriff help her but they said she wasn’t hot or anything she was literally playing and fell just out of the blue. Well I called the doctor when she got back and the doctor got me in touch with the neurologist (the one she’s seeing at he end of this month) and he wanted more details of what happened. He asked me if this has ever happened before I told him that the “episode” where she just falls and her eyes roll back and she gets really out of it has happened before. The doctor informed me that this is actually a form of seizure that she is having. So he sent us Friday to a children’s cardiologist to rule out any problems with her heart. We were pretty nervous about this appointment b/c the doctor said that if she has something with her heart then it’s going to be some serious things. Well Lehna went and all of her tests came back as perfectly normal. The doctor said that as far as her heart is concerned she is a perfectly normal healthy little girl. So we were VERY relieved to hear that. He said to just keep our appointment with the neurologist. The neurologist did give me his on call number that he wants us to call if this happens again. So we will be on the look out for more of that.

While we were in Indianapolis on Friday for the tests we were also there for Tait’s cousin Travis’ Wedding. Travis and Sheri Lee have been dating for about 4 years so it was exciting to see them get married. I have a few pictures from the wedding. I didn’t take too many only b/c I really wasn’t in a good spot for pictures. Lehna sat on my lap for the entire wedding just pointing and asking questions. Maya sat in her car seat for the wedding just sleeping and then work up when they started to sing, but she laid their the entire length of the wedding, just happy as a clam. Maya is so easy compared to Lehna I hope she continues this trend when she gets mobile… I’m sure she won’t but it sure would be nice.

After the wedding (which was on Friday) we went to Tait’s aunt and uncles pretty much all day on Saturday. It was pretty fun we just talked and watched the kids play. It was a nice relaxing day. It was nice b/c we still had one more day left for the weekend before we have to return to work. So I recommend Friday weddings they are nice, sure you take the day off of work but that’s never a bad thing and it doesn’t take your entire Saturday you still have time left in the weekend.

So great news. Tait’s dad got a job in Wisconsin! Can you believe it? They are actually on their way up now b/c he has to fill out some pre-employment papers/screenings. Helen will also be moving up with him, you can tell that she isn’t too excited about it. I think she’s keeping an open mind but I think she wants to stay close to her grand children. Where they will be living from my parents is about 70 miles south from Hartford they will be living in Kenosha, which is literally just over the boarder in Wisconsin. Tait and I are now tossing around the idea of moving up to Wisconsin now actually. Tait said with his job he can pretty much go to any state b/c he has the necessary 2 years down and well my job isn’t really “transferable” but I’m sure I could find something up there that would be wonderful. So I don’t know. I mean I kind of want to wait and see what happens with the Wagner’s first to make sure they are going to “stay” up there and kind of go from there. We don’t have to pack up any time soon and quite frankly our home needs some work. I LOVE the idea of being able to be near of both sets of grandparents so when we go to Wisconsin this coming week it will be something we will investigate a little further. I think I have the support form my mom but I kind of just want to feel it out. Maybe in a year or so we will make the move we’ll just have to see.

I have talked a lot about everyone in my family except baby Maya. Let me tell you what a GREAT baby she is. She takes over her daddy’s personality 100% she is so happy and patient. She doesn’t have a problem just waiting until you have a chance to pick her up if she’s laying in her swing, jumperoo, or car seat. As long as you talk to her periodically she will lay there forever. She is also so happy. She just lights up when she hears voices and gets REALLY excited when she sees her big sister. Lehna adores her she loves to bring her toys and say things like “that’s my sister Maya” and make her laugh. It’s really quite fun for all of us to watch them interact. Maya really hasn’t shown any interested in getting mobile at all. She can “almost” flip over but hasn’t quite mastered it yet, probably in about 2 more weeks before she gets all the way for the full rotation, but even just holding her she doesn’t really have any desire to stand on her own feet or anything like that. She has started to stand more her just putting her in her jumperoo has really improved that but as far as wanting to get mobile she has NO desire. It’s so fun, I LOVE that she wants to stay a baby longer. I love just snuggling her and rocking her to sleep she’s just in no rush and it’s wonderful.
Maya's Tummy Time

So we still have Molly we had a lady come by and meet her last weekend but she decided that she wanted a puppy instead. I mean I don’t really blame her if I had a choice between and older dog and a puppy it would be pretty easy to determine what I wanted NEITHER! So we still have her she still listed on Craig’s list but we have only had two inquires about her so far. I don’t know. Daisy is the dog that’s been annoying not Molly so we’ll have to see what happens. Trent is going to come dog sit when we go to Wisconsin so that will be nice not to have to worry about what kind of disaster the house will be in when we come home. WE are going for like 5 days I’m so excited.

Well that’s my update for now… it’s brief but there’s so much to say and hard to summarize it… at least for me it is. So until I update again have a GREAT week for me it’s going to be VERY short!

Another Update after Lehna's appointment

Well I wanted to write to update you on Lehna. Basically after her appointment Monday the doctor feels that she did have a febrile seizure. They think that it was brought on by the heat that was going on outside on Friday. They said that it can happen again but most children if they have had one then there is only a 30% chance of the group of children that have one will have another one. They said to watch her when she’s outside watch for signs of her getting dehydrated.
The concerning factor with Lehna is the fact that when the EMT’s got there and at the hospital Lehna didn’t register a fever and that’s the problem b/c if she had a fever induced seizure then with her not having a fever is concerning. The doctor is fairly certain that it was a febrile seizure they are recommending that I see a neurologist just to rule out epilepsy, which it’s just a precautionary thing. So the appointment isn’t going to happen until August 31 which is a MONTH away. I wish that it would be this week but they won’t be able to do anything until then.

They do say that it can happen again so we need to make sure that Lehna is drinking water and staying cool. Of course this week it’s hotter than hot. We sent a water bottle with her for daycare so she can drink out if all day. They said at daycare today she was outside for just a few minutes and she came up to Shari and they said she had a rash all over her body like little bumps. It sounded like heat rash to me but I told them that I would talk to the doctor to investigate further, but in the meantime to keep in inside for the rest of the day. They said that even though she’s been out of the heat for the last couple of hours she still appears to have the rash. I will know later on today what they are talking about when I see her, if she still has the bumps, and go from there. I called my doctor but they are of course overbooked and are too busy to return my phone call so I’ll give them a couple more hours and then try back. I mean now that they are going to keep her out of the heat that will help but it still makes me crazy. I don’t think I will feel better until the summer is over and it’s freezing outside. It’s all very scary.

So until then I’ll keep posting on how she’s doing. If you would just look at her you wouldn’t have known that she scared the living daylights out of us. I am still not sleeping very well. I am up constantly checking on her making sure that she is okay. It’s awful.

I just wanted to give another update to you since it’s been another day. Yesterday was Lehna’s first day back to daycare. Lehna’s teachers all were giving her love with big hugs and telling her to stop scaring them so badly. They said that they took her outside for just a little bit when she came up to Suzie her teacher and Suzie noticed that she had a rash all over her arms and her legs. They said that the immediately brought her in and gave her some water and pulled up her hair and even gave her a cold wash rage to cool off with and the rash still stayed. Even several hours after she was inside for awhile the rash was still apparent. When I talked to Debbie it sounded a lot like heat rash so I told them I would check with the doctor but it sounded like heat rash. Well after speaking to the doctor the doctor said it sounds like Roseola which is a rash children develop after having several days of a high fever. It’s contagious and can be spread to other children. So my concern was all of the other children Lehna was around over the weekend. B/c she is past the contagious stage it’s only contagious when they have a high fever so that would be: Deklyn, Maya, and Landyn. Well Maya and Deklyn are too young for it so that shouldn’t be a problem but Landyn is in the “danger zone” so they said to watch him for a high fever. Well the doctor also said that it will go away in a couple of days. Well by the time Lehna got home from daycare the “rash” was gone. So I am not back to my original thought that it was in fact heat rash rather then Roseola I mean if it was Roseola it would still is visible when she got home from daycare. I told daycare this morning to keep her in the rest of the week since it’s supposed to be so very hot this week just to be sure.

I was thinking this morning that either way whether Lehna had a Febrile Seizure or an eplitoic seizure neither is very good. I mean Epolitic seizures means there’s something wrong with her brain which is no good and febrile seizures can be caused by heat and fever, I mean its Indiana we have HOT DRY summers. I mean either way they are too unpredictable and way too scary. I wish I could choose neither I mean they both are pretty sucky. But anyways I’ll keep you posted on her condition and her health status.
